can you burn wood pellets in any wood burner? or is it just hype of buying a pellet furnace/ burner?
Basically I have a 2 floor hutch, and theres a 50×50 CENTImeter area where he does his business
However, I have a litter tray in the corner where he normally does it the most, but it varies so much. Sometimes he does it in one corner and then the next day he does it in the other. It’s always in this 50×50 area though.
I put woodshavings and hay down to cover the floor but I always feel I am wasting it by picking the poop up from the floor, as I cant see the poop soemtimes it’s stuck in the hay so I need to remove everything and it just wastes a lot.
So what do I do? When it urinates on the shavings I put them in the litter tray on top of some wood pellets, but he has never went in that tray. I’ve had him since Tuesday and he’s 12 weeks old.
Would neutering help? Or does he hate the wood pellets maybe?

Second question is that he always runs around the cage up and down like REALLY fast 2 times a day or something, why? We dont have a run for it YET but are getting one so the only exercise it gets is in its cage.
I wish I knew how to clean its poop up easier thats getting on my nerves!
Thanks for your help

I live in a cold climate. I have a three season porch that I have heated with a space heater for several years. I am looking for a more efficient way of keeping it above freezing — it doesn’t have to be 70 degrees– during cold season. In-flooring heating is not possible. I hate infrared and I don’t want to burn wood, pellets, etc. I’m hoping someone reading this will be able to suggest something else that might work. Again, I don’t need it house warm, but I do want it to stay above 32 degrees.
Insulating is good advice. However, we have already done that. Windows are all high-quality and double-paned. Yes, everything well insulated. Floor cannot be carpeted as this is our hot tub room and we have a beautiful, non-slip finish already installed. Hate to pay to heat the whole thing– just want to keep it from going below 32 degrees with something more energy efficient that a space heater. Solar panels? Some other type of auxiliary heating????
Right now we are using like a paper material from Petco. It’s ok but has an odd paper smell to it. How are Kaytee super soft, those tiny wood pellets? Or the Carefree cotton like stuff?
NO CEDAR OR PINE
We have the pellet stuff that’s like old newspaper or whatever for litter and the shredded stuff for bedding. I don’t care much for it.
I forgot the brand though.
Our critters don’t really smell, with the exception of our male rat. He’s musky. But I’m just not impressed with this grey paper stuff. It makes a mess, the rabbits kick it everywhere, and it’s not absorbent enough for my taste. And the rats always have it stuck to their fur. (dry, thankfully)
It’s not the stuff in the litter pan that’s the problem. It’s the stuff in the bottom of the cage they kick out when they exit or even enter the cage, or decide to run around inside the cage till I open it lol.
When we are home at night we open the cage and they have free roam. There are no dogs so it’s cool.
They like it and the house is "baby" proofed.
I use a wood pellet litter for my cats, and I put it into the compost when I’m changing the litter. I’m just wondering, since we are now planting flowers around the garden, will this aid in fertilising? Or would it just sit there and rot?
Well I was actually wondering about the wood pellets, I know the poop will fertilise it ![]()
I was with my cousin shopping and a store worker stopped us at the door and accused him of not paying for a item on his cart. My cousin asked him "for what item"? The worker made a big scene in front of other shoppers and workers of the store and then picked up the first bag and there was the item. Neither one of us put it there but I do remember we left the cart with wood pellets on it and walk couple rows over to look at something else, then went to the back to get the cart, we checked out and then we were stopped at the front door. The rest of the story I have already told. A officer came to the store and talked to us. He let us go and they now just sent him a paper in the mail that he suppose to go to court for petty theft. I know I didn’t see my cousin do it and I know I didn’t do it. So, what can he do?
My partner and I live with his parent’s; however, we were supposed to be moving out or into a bigger room when we got our gorgous Rex bunny, Dawn. However recently her sawdust bedding is causing my partner breathing problems, now Dawn’s and inside bunny and always will be I wont put her outside and neither will my partner, but we can’t put her in any other rooms, and we can’t move anytime soon. So does anyone know of any alternative beddings, or whether I can use linolium in her cage or something? I know I got to give her hay as it’s 80-90% of their daily food, she get’s lots of fresh fruit/vegetables and I use wood pellets in her litterpan with a little bit of sawdust for comfort. So is it safe to put linolium or something like that on the bottom of the cage?
