Is it a fire hazard to install a gas pipe (even with shut-off valve) behind my existing electric stove?

I am thinking of upgrading my electric gas stove to propane in the distant future. I figured that now is the time to do the plumbing because I’m finishing the basement (where the pipe runs) soon.

how much propane is being used with pilot running on a gas fireplace?

i work at a fireplace shop and i always get the question how much propane will be used when leaving pilot on during the summer. i cant really answer that question because i dont know. or anybody here. so is there a graph to go by? with a unit thats 10,000 btu’s to one that is 50,000?

I like to cook & have noticed that homes in Alabama don't have gas stoves/ovens….why?

And is an electric stove/oven going to cook food just as good. I enjoy baking cookies and I make Hard Candy and other sweet treats. These things are fairly precise in the cooking process. Will I have an issue using electric??

THANKS!!
ok…will propane work just as good for stove top cooking? Will it get as hot as Ngas? hard candy is super technical in its ever changing temp lvls..

Any ideas for a safe space heater for my art studio?

I’m in the process of insularing and putting interior wall surfaces in my art studio (loft in a garage). The primary heat source this winter will be a pellet stove (outside air source for combustion air) used only while I am working in the studio. I need a space heater that will at the very least keep the space (12′x7′x24′) above freezing while I am not in it. I’ve noticed on the baseboard heaters that they reccomend not using them in an area that is subject to high dust levels or fumes. Since most of my work is done in dry pastels and I use fixative (also mineral spirits when I paint in oils), I was concerned that I might be setting myself up for a flash fire or explosion if I installed a baseboard system.
Keep in mind that I do not have gas or propane to the building (a hopefully near future project!), so eletricity is my only choice of energy for the heat.
Any thoughts on this?

Thank you!

Need an additional heating source for large room with vaulted ceilings.?

I have a 2200 square foot split level home that only has one thermostat (located in the upstairs hallway). My "single" level part of the house is a great room with a living room, dining room & kitchen. It is probably around 800 square feet and has a vaulted ceiling (18 feet at the peak). It is my favorite room of the house but impossible to heat. If I have my thermostat set at 72, my bedroom level gets to 72 but my great room is generally between 50 and 60 degrees in the winter. That is much too cold! So…I’m trying to figure out an alternative heat source that is kid & pet friendly. I’ve been looking at electric fireplaces and pure eden heaters but nothing to serious yet. Oh, and yes the room has a ceiling fan but it basically just moves the cold air around right now. Any suggestions?
Our house is forced air heat and is fueled by propane. Propane is expensive in Central NY. Additionally, turning up the thermostat isn’t an option because it just gets too hot up in the bedrooms. The fan is on its lowest setting and is switched to push the air down.

help paying bills?

i live in ny i have 3 kids and my husband currently got fired and we got behind on alot of our bills like propane and electric.do u know of any places that will help me in this situation?

Opinion…Electric Heater vs Radiant Heater….?

Ok I am looking at the bigger model of the EdenPure Radiant Heaters. Or the Electric Heaters that look like a fake fireplace with same wattage as edenpure.

Can someone give the their opinion on which they like better.
I have a 14 X 60 mobile home that I use propane, but I am in an electric co-op which make my electric cheaper the Ohio Edison. I am not wanting to heat the whole home just to cut the chill from main living room. I generally keep the temp at 60 degrees not and not above 65 degrees in the extreme winter. Thank you for your input.

What method of casting aluminum would you recommend and how do you do it?

Hello,

http://www.casting-source.com/casting-chart.htm
This seems like a fair list of methods for casting and it seems like a fun, good way of making things that I wish to produce. I am looking into making a kiln that uses propane, charcoal or used motor oil. The kiln isn’t the part I don’t really grasp yet, it’s the molding process, and maybe the aluminum itself. I feel a little over whelmed when it comes to the number of choices for aluminum alloys.

Anyway, I am considering any method of molding that is easily accomplished at my home, in my garage or something like that. Some of these methods suggest they yield rough results but I am sure I can smooth out the rough parts. I am working on making a box out of aluminum that can hold a fluid without leaking. It sounds like a very easy task but it’s certainly not a snap of the fingers.

Thank you.

Can you turn a gas burning fireplace into a wood burning?

My parents don’t want to use the fireplace because propane costs a lot and we don’t have the money right now. Is there any way we can convert our fireplace into a wood burning fireplace? They said they’d use it if it were wood burning. We used it last year and the gas was a lot but it gave off a good amount of heat to heat the house. and We have a 2400 sq. ft. house and it has an upstairs and a basement. It doesn’t do too good on the basement but on the main floor and upstairs it does pretty well. So I just want to know, is it possible? And is it possible for us to do it instead of hiring someone to do it?
