Thick Black Residue inside and outside my gas stove?

We have a fairly new Whirlpool Gas Oven (we use propane), and it is leaving a thick black residue inside and on the outside of the stove. It even gets on our food and dishes that we put in the oven. Any ideas of why this is happening or how to stop it?? Our previous stove did not do this.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Can you buy an electric peninsula fireplace?

I’ve been shopping around and searching online, but it seems to me that peninsula fireplaces are only available in natural gas or propane. I really hope this is not the case! I really want a fireplace and have no available walls for a typical unit. For various reasons, I am not interested in propane, natural gas, or wood burning.

Anybody know how to convert a freestanding stove/oven from natural gas to propane?

I have a stove that is equipped for natural gas. Only problem is, I use propane in my home. How easy is it to convert it? It’s a GE freestanding gas stove/oven.
Actually, Lowes has told us that we can order the parts and change the orifices ourselves. They did not mention a thing about it being illegal to do it ourselves. Seems like it’s a very common thing to do.
Though Lowe’s tells us it’s easy to get parts and convert it ourselves, it’s a very scary thought. We’ve been getting advice from one extreme to the other. Do it…Don’t do it…it’s safe..it’s NOT safe. How does one decide?

Is it a fire hazard to install a gas pipe (even with shut-off valve) behind my existing electric stove?

I am thinking of upgrading my electric gas stove to propane in the distant future. I figured that now is the time to do the plumbing because I’m finishing the basement (where the pipe runs) soon.

I like to cook & have noticed that homes in Alabama don't have gas stoves/ovens….why?

And is an electric stove/oven going to cook food just as good. I enjoy baking cookies and I make Hard Candy and other sweet treats. These things are fairly precise in the cooking process. Will I have an issue using electric??

THANKS!!
ok…will propane work just as good for stove top cooking? Will it get as hot as Ngas? hard candy is super technical in its ever changing temp lvls..

Any ideas for a safe space heater for my art studio?

I’m in the process of insularing and putting interior wall surfaces in my art studio (loft in a garage). The primary heat source this winter will be a pellet stove (outside air source for combustion air) used only while I am working in the studio. I need a space heater that will at the very least keep the space (12′x7′x24′) above freezing while I am not in it. I’ve noticed on the baseboard heaters that they reccomend not using them in an area that is subject to high dust levels or fumes. Since most of my work is done in dry pastels and I use fixative (also mineral spirits when I paint in oils), I was concerned that I might be setting myself up for a flash fire or explosion if I installed a baseboard system.
Keep in mind that I do not have gas or propane to the building (a hopefully near future project!), so eletricity is my only choice of energy for the heat.
Any thoughts on this?

Thank you!

Need an additional heating source for large room with vaulted ceilings.?

I have a 2200 square foot split level home that only has one thermostat (located in the upstairs hallway). My "single" level part of the house is a great room with a living room, dining room & kitchen. It is probably around 800 square feet and has a vaulted ceiling (18 feet at the peak). It is my favorite room of the house but impossible to heat. If I have my thermostat set at 72, my bedroom level gets to 72 but my great room is generally between 50 and 60 degrees in the winter. That is much too cold! So…I’m trying to figure out an alternative heat source that is kid & pet friendly. I’ve been looking at electric fireplaces and pure eden heaters but nothing to serious yet. Oh, and yes the room has a ceiling fan but it basically just moves the cold air around right now. Any suggestions?
Our house is forced air heat and is fueled by propane. Propane is expensive in Central NY. Additionally, turning up the thermostat isn’t an option because it just gets too hot up in the bedrooms. The fan is on its lowest setting and is switched to push the air down.
