Does anyone know a SIMPLE way of lighting a gas fireplace? And no I don't believe the pilot is on.?
Additionally, is it possible to use regular firewood instead of turning on the pilot light and gas?

Just moved into a new house and I followed the instructions on the side of the fireplace: Turn dial to 1/ignite, hold down, push button. We’ve succeeded in getting the pilot light lit twice but it soon goes out. Any help?
opposed to relighting the pilot light when you use it?
Is is significant or no?
we just moved into a new house and tried to light the pilot light in the gas fireplace. It didnt light at all. We tried about 5 times. The sellers said it works but they havent used it for a couple of years. Any suggestions?
fireplace. my wife placed two 2 foot tall scarecrows on the fireplace hearth. one on the left side of the hearth and the other an the right. the scarecrows are made of straw. the fireplace screen is between the log set and these things sitting on the hearth. is it a fire hazard to have something like this sitting on the hearth when the fireplace is off but the pilot light is on? obviously i wouldnt light the set with these things on the hearth. i wonder if a spark could shoot out from underneath the log set pilot light and somehow make it through the screen and cause a fire. is this far fetched or is there a risk here?
I moved into a new apartment and the realized that the gas control valve behind the stove was shut off (the knob was perpendicular to the pipe). I turned it on by turning the knob a full 90 degrees so that it is now parallel to the pipe and I can hear the gas flowing. I was able to start the pilot lights on the stove. I dont know if we are supposed to turn it on fully or if it is better to partially turn it on (probably by turning the knob 45 degrees?)
As well…I was able to turn the stove pilot light on but was not able to get the oven to work. I like to know if there are separate pilot lights for the oven.
I am not quite familiar with these problems so please give me your advices and responses. Thank you for reading this and I will greatly appreciate your responses.
the gas man lit it last week when he delivered the butane. now they won’t come back on. thought it was dust so i cleaned with a Q-tip & sucked it out with the vacuum cleaner but the pilot light still goes out when i release the button. any ideas what else i can try on my own?
hossain s…exactly!! lol
ray.. i think u maybe right. the flame hits but it won’t stay on. soon as i let off the button the flame is gone
the flame is definitely hitting the thingy(dunno what it’s called) but it won’t stay lit. k i’ll clean w/ steel wool in case it’s rust. ty
i feel u Michael but luckily i have a friend who works w/ a gas co. He installed them for me.. last resort I’ll call him & get back w/ u. (the thingy that lights is called a thermacouplar, maybe that is the prob) Stay tuned LOL…..
I can wash my glass insert and within a week I am unable to see through the glass because of the soot buildup. I am becoming concerned. I have checked the log placement. The pilot light is blue and the flames are orange when burning. Any ideas? Thanks
I know the vent needs to be opened when the fireplace is on, but does the pilot light produce enough carbon monoxide to be dangerous when it’s on by itself?
It is very easy to re-light and no problem running the fireplace for up to several hours. When we first turn off the fireplace, the pilot light stays lit; but about an hour or so later, I notice it is again off. We tried "dusting" the insert with a dry paint brush, but no improvement. How do I know if it is the thermocouple (?) or the sensor???
