The knob in my gas stove is stuck after cleaning it with a bleach. What is the best lubricant to use?
Gas stove – Knobs go down before turning – couldn’t get them move even with pliers.

I was told that in oregon there is going to be a new law where you cant use wood burning fireplaces any more because of polution. so you will need to use somthing else like a pellet or gas stove instead.
I tried to find information about it but I could not find any. Is it true, if so where can I find info. about it?
A snowstorm (25 inches) in the DC area knocked out our power for 2 days. We (2 adults, one kid, one dog, one cat) don’t have a fireplace either, so our house got steadily colder until we camped out at a neighbor’s house. She kept the main floor around 55 degrees (F) by keeping the gas stove going full blast. By the time the electricity was restored and we went back home, it was about 35 degrees (F) in our house.
We don’t have a generator and can’t afford what’s available right now (0 minimum). We will be making a hotel reservation just in case the power goes out again.
Thanks for any ideas on how to keep warm and safe should the power go out again, as another 10-20 inches are expected tomorrow night.
I have a very small gas stove (24-26 inches wide). The grates are very close to the flame. I burn everything! I cooked sauce tonight, and I had the flame as low as I could get it before it went out. (the flame was the size of a baby pea…even smaller…) It still burned and stuck to the bottom and this was only after 15 min! I also cannot use the flame on high, becuase it will start to melt the handle of my small saucepans. Granted, water boils in less than 2 minutes……hahahahaa… The oven and broiler are great, tho.
I have an electric stove now and want to get a gas stove. I moved my electric stove and underneath was a metal pipe sticking out of the floor. Is this a gas hook up?
If this is the gas hook up should there be any problems hooking the new gas range up since I’ve always had an electric stove at this place??The place that I’m getting the new range from does the installation, I just don’t want any surprises!
I am thinking of upgrading my electric gas stove to propane in the distant future. I figured that now is the time to do the plumbing because I’m finishing the basement (where the pipe runs) soon.
Hi All,
It looks like hydrogen generator being widely discussed, especially during high oil price. I already got several information regarding hydrogen generator for car/truck, while I also interested to apply this technology for gas stove. Have you guys got any advise for me?
Can I put them covers over the burners on a gas stove?
I currently have a gas stove. I don’t like having a gas stove, it makes me uneasy. Weird, I know, but I am always worried that it is leaking or is going to leak. Assuming I don’t already have a 220v plug or whatever to run it to, how much might it cost to set it up? Not including the new electric stove I’d have to buy- purely just the work to set it up.
I just moved to a new place, and my stovetop espresso maker doesn’t fit the new gas stove — the grate is too large for the espresso maker to balance over the flame.
I’ve seen a solution in Germany, a metal insert or adapter that fits over center of the existing grate to make it smaller.
Has anyone seen anything like that for sale, or is there some other clever solution?
