I want to convert PreWay,B136B, gas fireplace to log burning. Zero Clearance. Can I and who do I call?

I bought the house in July. The gas logs work fine, and the fireplace is vented, but I want to convert to real logs. The PreWay Co. is no longer in business. I know NOTHING about fireplaces. How do I know if my fireplace can be converted and who do I call to ensure the safest solution?? House built in 1985. Please help.

Gas burner pipe in my fireplace?

I just bought a house that has a fireplace in the living room. Running across the bottom of the fireplace is a gas burner with 3 openings (narrow slits across the top). The gas control is built into the front face of the fireplace in the brick. Is this type of fireplace meant to be used with the ceramic logs laid in the rack? Or is this just meant to be used as a starting aid for a wood fire? Every set of gas logs I’ve looked at contain their own burner.

This is a fully functioning fireplace, and you can see that the previous owners have burned a wood fire in it. I’m just trying to figure out the best/proper way to use this fireplace. Every place I’ve had before just used a standard wood fire.

Question about fireplaces: pre-made wood burning firebox and flue, or traditional wood burning masonry unit…?

I’m considering building a new home and am looking to cut some of the major expenses, if possible. I’m a real fan of wood burning fireplaces, and plan to have 4 in my new home. I will not have gas logs in my home for now. Masonry fireplaces are my first choice, but quite costly. I know the pre-made metal and fire brick fireboxes are much, much more cost effective, but how safe are they really? I guess I just feel a little safer with the thought of a standard masonry fireplace and chimney, but if the metal pre-made units are just as safe and durable, why not use those? The pre-made units are about 75% less expensive than standard masonry fireplaces.
Any helpful info or knowledge, or personal experience out there?
Thanks,
John.

Why are my gas logs turning off, and is it expensive to have a tech come out?

Who do I get to run a natural gas line to my fireplace?

I want to convert my wood burning fireplace to one that has gas logs. Who do I get to run the gas line? The gas company? A plumber? A contractor? I have no idea where to start…

Looking for a specific gas heater?

These are those indoor gas heaters that are built into the wall and look like miniature fireplaces. They have a glass front and itty bitty gas logs inside. The units are approx. 1 foot tall. Does anyone know what these are called and/or who makes them? I have Googled like crazy and cannot find out. Thank you in advance.

can you burn real wood in a gas burning fireplace?

moved into a new house recently. fireplace has pipe that runs across middle and has approx. 6 holes to allow gas. is this to help start logs on fire? Or, is this fireplace strictly made for just gas logs?

Is it okay to burn wood in a fireplace that has a gas line/pipe exposed?

We bought the house a few years ago and are wanting to use it this year for the first time. The fireplace has a chimney but had gas logs in it. We are wanting to burn real wood so we removed the gas logs and seen a gas line/pipe connected to the burner. I assume it is fire resistant but need some reassurance…
