I added a fireplace insert in my home. Can I get a tax credit for it or for the wood I burn. If so does anyone know a website.
What do you call an insert to cover your fireplace opening?
Not a screen, but a decorative piece that would fit tightly inside the fireplace opening to block it off. I googled "fireplace insert" but keep getting gas fireplaces.

can I convert a wood stove?
can I convert a wood stove to a fireplace insert fireplace or would it be better to build a hearth and set the wood stove on the hearth Im not worried about cost. I was wondering this because I love the smell of wood fireplaces or wood stoves but a wood stove looks so ugly just sitting on the floor and Im partial to fireplaces but the wood stove goes into the wall through a pipe and I was just courious could a fireplace inset type thing be put there without having to make another chemny there is no way to make another chimney in this house its just not an option so any suggestions
Will a tile underlayment work if I do not screw it to the subfloor?
I am making a tile hearth extension to meet code distance for a fireplace insert. For r-factor I will use 1/2" micore 300, then 1/4" Wonderboard, then thinset and matching tiles. My concern and question is whether my underlayment will be stable enough if I do not screw down the Micore and Wonderboard? The reason I do not want to screw it down is because the subfloor has radiant heating tubes with water. The tubes are under an inch of a gypsum/sand/cement mixture.

Ok so my parents were in Cleveland for the weekend, so I had free roam of the house.
Well this mornging, I had had our brand spanking new fireplace insert on for a couple hours and I was looking for something in one of the piles of x-mas stuff by the fireplace, so I sat down in front of the fireplace for maybe a minute tops. And now there is a huge hole in my bathrobe and a ton of gross, black, melted stuff on the glass!!
So far I’ve tried Goo Gone, Windex, Nail polish remover, and water to no avial!! Does anyone have a suggestion to what I can do?? My parents will be home in around an hour so I’m desperate! Please help me!
I had a small baby possum show up in my house this morning. Are there more coming??
This morning a small baby possum came out from under a chair my cat trapped him under for the night…I believe. The night before we heard noises coming from the fireplace insert and I believe somehow it came in that way and then found it’s way into the house during the night. The possum has run out of the house. I am just wondering if there are more to come?? Could I have baby possums showing up in the next few days?? I am so not nature so I have no knowledge on this kind of thing at all. Could someone shed some light on this for me?
Question for computer Geeks about Active X?
I just went to a website looking for info on my Tiberline fireplace insert and when I clicked on this one site for them, up pops this box that says I need to download Active X,and when I try closing it or doing ANYTHING else short of restarting my computer this box stays on the screen and won’t let me do ANYTHING,I have to restart my computer to continue, it appears to me that this Active X is a dangerous thing,what can you tell me about it.
