I have an electric fireplace that I would like to paint in an espresso color. I believe it is made out of MDF and it is already painted white. How would I go about changing the paint color to dark brown without it looking like crap? I have never painted anything before so please be specific.

When I was little, I would come up with stupid too-creative ideas for Halloween costumes. I was a headless Pikachu, a first class woman who drowned on the Titanic, a zombie hippie, and even my own imagination. I haven’t dressed up in a few years (I prefer to sit in front of the electric fireplace with a stash of chocolate bars and watch the movies and specials on tv), but I might go out this year.

Ok so I just bought a small town house. The living room is narrow. 11×19. One of the 11" walls has windows. the other is just a plain wall. one of the 19" walls is plain while the other has the staircase going upstairs and a half bath, really can’t do much on that wall. I want to buy new furniture but it’s difficult with the narrow space. I currently have a small couch on the plain 19" wall, a small chair in a corner and my tv in the corner in order to view it from the couch. I also have a small dining room table by the wall with the windows in order to fill that space. I don’t mind getting rid of the table if i have the right furniture to fill it. I have a sketch and photos of the area, anyone able to help me out?

would I be better off with a sectional? sofa and love seat, softa and chairs? electric fireplace etc….

I just called my oil company and was told heating oil was at .38 a gallon and about to go up again. They have a minimum delivery of 150 gallons. That would cost me 7.00 and isn’t enough to even get me through the winter. Crazy! We don’t qualify for LIHEAP but can’t afford it on our own either. We are a family of five. I am curious to know if anyone else is anticipating high costs this winter and what, if any, alternatives you are considering to heat your home. We have an electric fireplace and some portable oil filled heaters. I think at this point electric will be a cheaper way to heat my home.

So i just bought a new condo in ontario, closing date is in january. I have been renting for 5 years all inclusive so I have never had to worry about utilities. My condo is a two bedroom, smallish, with all electric baseboards, and a gas fireplace on the main floor. Luckily all of the windows are newer and it seems to be insulated well. I am wondering how I can keep my costs low, for example, should I only use the gas to heat the main level and keep the upstairs low, since heat rises? should i put an electric fireplace in the basement or would it be the same as running the baseboard heaters down there? and any idea on approximately how much during the winter an average electrical/gas bill would be? Just trying to prepare as best I can.

my budgie is constantley making tiny chirping noises and he seems to have trouble breathing. please help i dont know what to do. we currently have him in a 1/2 light 1/2 dark area and is near the electric fireplace for heat. i read that on a website. please help what should i do? he’s 9 years old and I’m going to miss him if he dies. please help!!!!

My dad is very allergic to animals. I’ve had hamsters and a bunny inside before, and although he kept his distance, his allergies weren’t really affected. However, a few years ago, we tried getting a jack-a-poo puppy(jack russel and poodle), and after a month or two, his allergies were really bad and his doctor told us to get rid of it. I love animals and have always wanted a little indoor puppy my whole life. We have a large room in the basement with an electric fireplace right outside the door for heat, lots of room to run around while were at school, and a door just outside the room perfect for taking him out. As long as the dog stayed in the basement, do you think it will affect my dads allergies? I would get a short hair dog. And do you know of any short hair dogs that don’t shed too much? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Just moved into a new condo, and the electric fireplace has been used with wood. Looks a little cloggy when you look up it. Want to start having fires. Should I get it checked to make sure it’s OK? How much does this cost?

we have oak tables and an oak electric fireplace in living room -we are putting in hardwood floors but are undecided as to the color. any sugestions? thanks
