Pellet stove feeding too quickly?
We just bought a home, and it has an older (1990) Pellet stove. We got it running, and because I have never worked one of these before – Im not sure how quickly it is supposed to feed pellets. However, it seems to be feeding too quickly because the box that gets pellets poured into it gets full very quick, and starts spilling them out – I watched it once I realized this, and a fire had started down below that box because there were enough pellets and apparantly one that was hot started the rest of the extras to catch. I resorted to turning the auger on and off throughout the evening, but I know that it should be able to run without me having to do that…
Any ideas on whats happening and how to fix it?
Technicals: the only knobs for adjustments are On/Off auger, Heat (1-5) and Blower speed. I had it on 5 heat and max blower speed, but I dont think that should’ve caused the pellets to overflow.
