In what year did Cadillac change engines?
I’m told that Cadillacs engine blocks are currently made out of aluminum. In what year did they change from cast iron to aluminum?
And which type of engine block would be more reliable?

I believe the HT-4100, which was introduced with the 1982 model year, was the first aluminum block (still used cast-iron heads), followed by the all aluminum NorthStar V8 in the 1993 model year Allante.
Cast iron is definitely more reliable.
