I need fireplace help! INSERT variety!?
I have an existing normal household fireplace that burns logs, it has no door or cover, we just have a screen we sit in front of it … is there a cover or door that you can buy that will fit into the opening or over it and also blow the arm air into the room more? Where can i get one? Will I neeed electric to plug it into for the fan?

Usually those blower-type FP’s are on masonry FP’s. But there’s no reason you can’t set a small fan in fron tof it, facing out, to suck the warm air into the room.
All my insert FP’s have had wire "curtains" that you can draw… yours may have been removed, or maybe were never there. I’ve never heard of retrofitting a mesh curtain, however. I think a pretty screen would be great!

I have one in my house,it will cost you about insert and install, up to 3-4k, depending what type and btu output,, plus any firewood you burn in it, if you buy firewood cords from a vendor, and/or if you plan to hunt down free wood and plus have a place to store and be kept dry and away from pest and insects too.. Mine is all self contained, very easy to use, burns great for my small house, had it professionally installed yrs ago.. The one you mention is sorta available,, but it is a cheap way to go… I would invest in a pellet stove(easy to store in garage and buy at home depot, or OSH), yes both of them require electricity,, but if you need it in a crunch, also purchase a ups, for power backup for fan… I never did,as my power hardly goes out that long…
Find a fireplace shop. Take some pics of your fireplace and measurements. They sell various types of inserts, doors, screens. Be prepared to tell hem about the chimney and flue also. Some fireplace shoppes have trained personnel that make house calls.
Gas fired log sets are actually very inefficient and pull heat from the house. Inserts actually ADD heat and pull outside air for combustion, i.e. more efficient
