]]> i have found some decent products online, but they are based on the east coast and shipping it to california is pretty expensive. and i am wondering if any of these alternatives are worth the price. i am hoping that there is a product closer to my home that i can pickup myself, if possible, but will pay for the shipping if i have to. anybody know of some good products being produced anywhere that burn very clean and give off a good amount of heat?

I really want a fireplace and have no available walls for a typical unit. For various reasons, I am not interested in propane, natural gas, or wood burning.
