We all know that there is a tremendous benefit to driving a zero-emissions electric vehicle, but that electric charge still comes from a coal fired power plant, in most places.

Can anyone steer me towards any info that shows that, even with the current 20th century methods of mass producing electricity, charging and driving electric cars is more environmentally friendly than normal high mpg gasoline burning cars?

Holy smokes I forgot how much ash a fireplace produces! It’s time to clean mine out… we’ve been in our new house for about 6 months now and I haven’t lived in a home with wood heat for many years. Growing up my dad always used a metal bucket that he set outside for a while before he dumped it. I don’t have a metal bucket, so I haven’t had a fire for over 12 hours to make sure there aren’t any hot buds in there. I’m just going to use some grocery sacks, etc but I’m wondering what other people use or if you have any tips/tricks?? Thanks!

We have gas logs in our living room–just for extra heat when we need it but with gas prices as they are we haven’t even turned them on yet.–we have a gas pack and these are just for "extra heat". would it be cheaper to change these to electric logs as I do miss the beauty of the fireplace.

I vacuum everyday, but it doesn’t do a lot of good. My question is this:

Is it okay to pull the hair from my dogs bottom after it passes?

You see, when he goes poop and my hair is in it, it makes it hard for him to poop and sometimes the poop just hangs there stuck to the hair.

Is it alright for me to pull it out?

I don’t want to mess up his digestive tract or his rectum. He’s a 5 lb Chihuahua if that helps.

Brick gets hot above the insert fireplace portion after burning for hours. Just want to make sure not having the blower on 24/7 is not a fire hazard. Rooms stay warm without continually using blower.

If using wood logs in a gas fireplace is safe can you also light the wood using the gas outlet in the fireplace?
